Sydney based product design and engineering company, Kennovations, provide high quality custom design and installation services for artists, architects and property developers to enable the creation of public artworks.
Kennovations have been instrumental in the installation of public artworks throughout the city, in areas such as Rydalmere and Macquarie Park.
Public artwork design, “Memory Fragments” was designed by Ross Shepherd and is displayed on Victoria Road at Bunnings Rydalmere. It is an impressive sculpture that gives an optical illusion and reinforces aspects of heritage, culture, locality and history.
Placed at the site where the Australia Post once stood 50 years ago, the artwork features a postage stamp theme that references Australia’s history of colonialisation
“The flickering effect of many passing stamps on envelopes would have created a striking impact on the 1,000 workers who sorted the mail here during the peak of its operation,” artist Ross Shepherd said.
Kennovations was commissioned to custom design, engineer and construct the artwork following the successful submission by the artist. The company fabricated 14 vertical metal blades that stand 4.9m high, with two different stamp designs on either side, secured via concrete foundations set into the landscape strip of the footpath.
Kennovations exceptional engineering capability and experience in utilising various materials and manufacturing processes allowed for an integrated one stop approach to ensure the project’s completion in line with the clients brief.
“I am confident the art concept essentially addresses the public art strategy requirements by being consistent with the input of the Council’s heritage and culture,” Mr Shepherd said.
